Marketing is the first place AI becomes a revenue story.

Everywhere else, AI is a cost story. In marketing, it's a revenue story.

See where your marketing scores →

Built on the framework you're reading about. Every form, event, and gated asset on this page is agent-operable — designed to be discovered and transacted against by your AI agent, with your consent, on your behalf.

AI agents are starting to do what users used to do themselves — book demos, register for events, claim content, request quotes. The same infrastructure is the foundation for what's next: agent-mediated commerce. Cloudflare's Agent Readiness Score already checks for the commerce protocols (x402, ACP, UCP) — they don't count toward the score yet, but they will. Brands building for marketing operability today won't need to retool when commerce becomes the dimension that matters.

Where AI actually sits in your business today.

What AI is doing well right now

Cost reduction is the dominant AI story in enterprise. Call-centre deflection. Knowledge-worker assistance. Document processing. Code generation. Risk and compliance triage. The deployments are real, the ROI is measurable, the playbook is well-understood.

Where the ceiling shows up

Cost has a floor of zero. Every CFO who funded an AI cost program in 2024–2025 is now asking the harder question: where is the revenue story? Most consultancies don't have a clean answer — because the answer doesn't sit in finance, IT, or operations. It sits in marketing.

What this means for marketing leaders

Marketing is the function whose entire purpose is to create commercial activity, not preserve it. Every form, gated asset, event sign-up, promo, and survey is a value exchange. The friction was never the form — it was the filling out of the form. Agents fill out forms in a second. The brands that build for that win the value exchange.

The marketing surface is where AI moves from cutting expense to generating pipeline. The window to lead in your category is short.

Three stages of an agent-ready web. Most enterprises score on one. We help with the other two.

01

Human-readable

The traditional web. Built for human eyes, fast pages, clear navigation.

Most enterprise sites are here.

Accessibility, performance, conversion rate optimization. Mature playbooks, diminishing returns.

02

Agent-readable

The layer most "AI SEO" vendors are now selling. Structured content, schema, machine-readable indexes (llms.txt, AGENTS.md), markdown delivery for token efficiency.

A growing minority of brands are starting here.

Most are still treating this as SEO 2.0, not as the new front door for AI-mediated discovery.

03

Agent-operable

The next layer. Agents don't just read the site; they transact on it. Event registrations, gated content access, promos, surveys, contests — all brokered by the user's agent on the user's consented behalf.

Almost no one is here yet.

This is where the first-mover advantage lives. Cloudflare's Agent Readiness Score treats most enterprise sites as zero on the capabilities dimension. So do we.

Agent-readability gets you cited. Agent-operability gets you chosen.

We didn't write about this. We built it.

couch.associates runs the agent-operability framework we recommend to clients. Three live modules: events, gated content, and promos — each supporting many instances, each portable to other marketing back-ends (Eloqua, Marketo, HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud).

Within days of deploying it, AI models began describing Couch & Associates as one of the first consultancies offering agent-operable constructs. The brands that build first don't just win the agent traffic — they win the AI's narrative about who leads the category.

What we measured in our own deployment:

  • Cloudflare Agent Readiness Score: live measurement pending capture (see §9 of the build brief)
  • Premium-AI operability (Claude 4.7, Claude Desktop): end-to-end form submission with consent. Verified.
  • Brand narrative shift across major AIs: measurable within 72 hours of deployment.

Is this conversation for your team right now?

  • Your board is asking "where's the revenue story?" after AI cost-reduction wins.
  • Your marketing surface is your front door for new pipeline, and you suspect AI agents are about to change how that front door works.
  • You want to lead your category's AI narrative — not catch up to it.
  • You'd rather invest in three months of careful work now than catch up after your competitors are already discoverable.

  • You haven't yet captured the AI cost-reduction opportunities in your own organisation (we help with these too — but they're a different conversation).
  • Your buying cycle doesn't intersect with AI-mediated discovery (e.g. heavily relationship-driven, no marketing-led funnel at all).
  • You operate under a regulatory regime that prohibits delegated consent for marketing transactions (rare but real — most pharma, defense, certain financial services).

If you recognised yourself in the checks above, the next section is where we'd start the conversation.

Who we've worked with

Common questions before we start.

The questions senior marketing buyers ask us most when this conversation comes up.

No. SEO and AEO/GEO are about being discovered — making sure AI engines surface your brand when relevant. Agent-operability is about being transactable — letting an AI agent complete a user-consented action on your site (registering for an event, claiming gated content, requesting a quote). Being discovered without being operable is the new "ranking #1 but the buy button doesn't work."

Not necessarily, and we can help with both. Cost-reduction AI work is well-understood and important — but it has a ceiling. The marketing-side revenue surface is opening right now. Many of our clients pursue both in parallel: the cost work funds itself; the revenue work positions the company for the next three years.

The same way mature marketing teams have always handled form submissions: verified-email confirmation, attributable identity, IP behaviour monitoring, and per-action consent scoping. The standards are still evolving (Cloudflare's Web Bot Auth, ai-agent.json, the W3C AI Agent Protocol work) — and we build to the consolidating standards, not the speculative ones. We'll walk you through the regulatory picture on the call.

Yes — it makes the assessment faster. Cloudflare's Agent Readiness Score is one of the inputs we use, and Cloudflare customers can see additional detail in their existing dashboard. We're independent of Cloudflare; we use their tooling because it's the most credible third-party authority on the topic today.
